Moms who want to build websites and understand the foundations of programming.
Web development is one of the most in-demand side hustles today. Maybe you’ve thought about building websites for friends and family? Perhaps you’ve considered starting a web design business? Or maybe you’d like to get back into the workforce as a developer? We’ve created this class just for moms. If you’re looking for a unique way to make extra income or considering a full-time career as a developer, this is the place for you.
Build a WordPress website.
We will teach you how to build and customize a WordPress theme. To get there, we’ll teach you HTML and CSS, the critical languages needed to create on the web. If you’d like to learn the basics of web development, this is for you. If you want to build WordPress websites for friends, family, or clients, then this is for you as well. We will also provide an onramp for those interested in going further and completing the full three course Midland University Code Academy program.
Taught by moms, for moms
Offering a course for moms isn’t just about flexible scheduling. It means you need an instructor that understands your life stage. Enter Becca Kroese, Founder of Skwintz and proud mom of her little man Lincoln. This is a class full of students who understand what it means to be a mom, taught by an instructor who gets it too.
Build Websites for Money
An alternative to MLM
As you’ll learn in this class, there are many ways to tackle a website project. Some clients need a fully customized website, coded with HTML and CSS. Some clients don’t need a custom site, and these are built with a theme. Clients typically pay anywhere from $500 to $5,000 for a theme based website. Custom sites can cost upwards of $20,000 at times. Building websites for family, friends, or clients, can become an exceptional side hustle.
For those that discover a passion for web development, you may want to continue your education at the Code Academy. There are many other part-time and full-time career opportunities in code as you build your skills.
Learn in a supportive community
Learning to code and build websites is an exceptional skill, but it’s not always easy. We use Slack in our course to help create community in each class. You’ll be learning these skills alongside others in your same life stage. Mom Code isn’t just about learning new skills: it’s about learning new skills alongside people who get you.
